MRCA Foundation Awards Grant to Study Self-Adhered Modified Base Sheet Systems

Lawrence, Kansas – The MRCA Foundation has awarded a $5,000 research grant to the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association Technical and Research committee to conduct a study on self-adhered (SA) modified base sheet systems attached to polyisocyanurate roof insulation.

“The MRCA Foundation is pleased to make this contribution to the MRCA Technical and Foundation committee. The grant fits within the newly expanded purpose of the Foundation which includes funding research programs that will yield a result and information that can be used to educate contractors and other stakeholders within the roofing industry”, says MRCA Foundation president Roberts Swanda, Jr. “The MRCA T&R committee is well known for its study and research of systems that are used by the roofing industry and through the years the Committee’s work has resulted in practices that better the industry.”

MRCA Technical and Research committee James Barr states that, “the generous contribution by the MRCA Foundation will allow the committee to conduct the study which will use the effects of heat on the application and resulting peel strengths as two key parameters of the research”.

The MRCA Foundation was established in 1987 as a nonprofit corporation in order to engage in activities for education and research purposes, including the enhancement of education opportunities for and within the roofing, waterproofing, insulation and siding industry. The Foundation has provided over $155,000 in scholarships and awards since its inception.
